With the football season almost over, its big match time. With Manchester United playing Chelsea in the Champion’s League final and Rangers playing Zenit St. Petersburg in the UEFA Cup final, this year is a good one for British fans.
Only problem is for some people that want to watch these games is that they may be working, like employees at Esure’s callcenters in Manchester and in Glasgow. However, where there a will, theres a way.
They have been inundated with requests from staff in both offices for time off to watch the big matches, and weren’t quite sure what to do, since usually they allow a maximum of 10% of their workforce to be absent at one time. Since Rangers play this week, with Manchester United and Chelsea going head-to-head the weekafter, the solution was simple.
When Rangers are playing in the UEFA Cup final, Manchester callcenter staff will do overtime to cover Glasgow. When Manchester United play Chelsea the following week, the favour will be repayed and Glasgow callcenter staff will do overtime to cover the Manchester callcenter. It’s pretty much the perfect solution, and just goes to show what can happen when business makes itself more flexible to its employees.
May be a one-off, but at least a whole lot of supporters wont have to miss their team’s appearances in the biggest club competitions in the world – and people will still be able to buy their car insurance when they’re being played. Which of course is what everyone will do – “Quick, the football is starting, get a quote for the car!”…
