A man has appeared in court over an incident where he shot his neighbour’s duck with a pellet gun, injuring it in the throat in the process, but what makes this unusual is the punishment.
The duck now has a protection order against the man, 21, who will now also most likely spend some time in jail for ‘aggrevated animal cruelty’ – up to a whole year if he’s unlucky.
The owner of said duck is covered by the order as well, but you get the feeling it is more for the duck’s benefit than anyone elses. The shooter has admitted carrying out the attack and is apparently happy the duck is well again.
All I’m wondering is what possible set of circumstances do you intend to shoot your neighbour’s duck? Did the quacking early in the morning get to him?
