This is a follow-up to this story, the group of Lesbians (i.e. the inhabitants of the Greek island of Lesbos) have lost their legal battle to ban the word ‘lesbian’ from referring to homosexual women. Which is good, since if they had won then it would be utterly stupid…

They were ordered to pay court costs too, although the grand sum of €230 is hardly going to break anyone’s bank. What still gets me is that they felt they could change the use of an English word in a Greek court. I mean, what the hell is that based on? If that was allowable then I imagine a lot of words from the English language would disappear – I imagine the oriental Asians among us would have something to say about our ‘misappropriation’ of the word ‘phuck’ amongst others.

Still, they lost, and the real lesbians won. Which is totally right.
