A man has been held in Australia for attempting to smuggle two pigeons into the country – in his pants. He wrapped them in padded envelopes and stuffed them in a pair of tights he wore under his trousers, obviously hoping that the big mishapen lumps in his legs didn’t give him away.

The problem is that Australia has incredibly strict import rules saying you can’t bring in most seeds, plants, animals or even foodstuffs for fear that they will damage the delicate ecosystem. As a result, this bloke could be looking at a 10 year stretch in prison and a hefty fine due to the fact it was live animals he was bringing in.

Weirdly though, the flight he was on took off from Dubai, which is a good long way away from Melbourne where it landed and he was caught. So in a long haul flight, probably around 12-18 hours I’d imagine, he managed to keep two live pigeons in his pants without being pecked in a tender spot, not get noticed by other passengers and not get crapped on. Quite an achievement there.
