Power cuts are bloody annoying. All of a sudden, the TV flicks off in the middle of the program you’re watching, or the PC turns off before you have a chance to save that important bit of work you were doing. Then you have the joyous experience of navigating your darkened house, stubbing your toes on objects you didn’t even know you owned before realising your torch has flat batteries.
Well, in Albania apparently they’re a bit of the issue. Well, more a constant and instrusive problem. The combination of an old Soviet-era electricity grid and overload from Albanians enjoying new electrical goods means they have power cuts all the time, with the blame for them being laid at the feet of such things as the condition of the grid itself (those pesky Soviets eh) to droughts.
This time, its different. This time, it was a cat. Chasing a mouse. Yes, you heard right. Apparently they ran into a load of high voltage cables and got fried. A 72 hour power cut, and they blame a literal game of a cat and mouse – bet their customers were pleased.
