In another post in my series of ‘posts ending with -y’, I bring you the story of a skunk, but not any skunk, oh no. This is the story of Pepe, the Skunk in Britain.

Pepe was free and wild for six months in Yorkshire (for you non-Brits, its where they eat lots of pies), mildly perturbing locals in his quest for… something. Numerous sightings had ended up with no result, just Pepe using his cunning like in the cartoons to escape capture.

Eventually though, someone tipped off the RSPCA and after an hour-long struggle, he was captured. Of course, to just make it clear to his captors that he was not a happy bunny, or indeed a bunny at all, he managed to stink up the place despite having had his main scent glands removed earlier in his life.

They seem to think that he was probably abandoned, as keeping them as pets requires a great deal of care and attention. Since no-one has reported missing a skunk, this theory seems to be the most likely.

And while this story may be a bit tame, I don’t care. The skunk is called Pepe, for god’s sake!
