It isn’t that often that a video blows me away with its sheer awesomeness, but this one certainly did. I don’t know whether it is the setting, the amazing conventional special effects (like wirework and standing very, very still), the brilliant CG effects or the twist at the end, but I just love this clip.
This short film is the work of one Adam Berg, a film maker who produced this piece for Philips. They are about to release their new 21:9 cinema screen TV, called ‘Carousel’, which offers the uber-widescreen you get at the cinema along with HD image quality and a bunch of other features. The film is actually part of an interactive experience, where users can stop the film and click on certain parts of it to get more information about how it was produced amongst other things.
Really, this is pretty much the best thing I have seen this year so far, even if the positioning of the police and clowns is a bit suspect (how could they be in every room fighting, surely the police would be storming from different directions and you wouldn’t find guys right in the middle of everything fighting it out, but I digress). Sit back, relax and enjoy this masterpiece!
Oh, and you can go to the official site here to experience it as it was intended, in the full 21:9 viewing aspect ratio (to put that in perspective, your conventional widescreen TV is 16:9 or 16:10 – the ratio of its width to its height).
