A Nigerian man has decided to divorce 82 of his 86 wives after he was given a good telling off by his elders (which is pretty impressive since he himself is 84 years old). The Islamic religious leader had originally been told that he would face the death penalty for being a very bad boy indeed, but that was later relented to being evicted from his property if he did not divorce all but 4 of his wives.

This all started when he got blanket coverage in news websites around the world, when he claimed that Allah had given him the power and ability to have this many wives, and that he had used the old Allah-says-it-must-be-so excuse to get many of the women to marry him in the first place.

The women saw him as pretty much a god in his own right, and he dished out supposed healing and other advice, whilst proclaiming various ailments were imaginary at the same time.

Apparently he didn’t earn any money, probably relying on donations from locals along with his children and wives begging for money – meaning he did nothing all day every day except give out his brand of ‘healing’.

But, as his excuses claiming that the Qu’ran did not say anything about having more than 4 wives fell on deaf ears and he was threatened with death, he seems to have given up the fight and decided to stick with just 4 women. As if that isn’t enough.

Oh, and most of them were a hell of a lot younger than he was. The lucky sod.
