Police confiscate cars all the time – usually as the result of it being involved in a crime and it being taken in as either evidence or as the proceeds of crime. When they do, they either make use of them themselves or sell them on at police auctions, normally following a thorough check-through of the contents of said vehicle. Normally.
Well this time it seems they missed something, as a vehicle which was seized way back in 2000 which had been used by police since then was found to have a secret stash of cocaine behind the dashboard when it went for breaking for parts.
A repairman found the half-pound of coke, worth about £7,000, behind the radio and then notified police. A spokesman said that sometimes ‘they miss stuff’ when making the checks on the car – well duh! Makes you wonder what else they ‘miss’…
