This is a video of a road intersection in New Zealand, which quite obviously is crying out for two things: traffic lights and people who aren’t insane drivers.
What makes this so funny is that half the accidents are caused by people who quite obviously need Visual Correction – especially the last one, who after completing the dreaded right turn without incident ends up ploughing straight into a road sign and the road island, before just keeping on going. Bet their car was damaged too, but it obviously doesn’t bother them too much!
There are junctions like this all over the world. You know the one, the one you dread having to turn out at on the way to and from work, or the one where you’ve seen enough crashes yourself to just avoid completely. And it always takes them years to do so much as to even put a sodding sign up to warn people, never mind install traffic signals or make the junction better in the first place! All while they find the time to put pointless signs like ‘48 casualties on this road in 3 years’ on roads in the hope that this will make you slow down. Well, it wont, all it does is distract people enough to have their very own crash to add to the statistic.
So here’s a tip to the people in charge of this kind of thing: solve the problem, don’t just tell people there is one.
Got any bad junctions you know? Mention them here!
