A family from Wales (this should explain it all) ended up flying to the wrong destination for their holiday, primarily down to their own stupidity but also the stupidity of the check-in staff. Instead of flying to Lanzarote, they ended up in Bodrum in Turkey.

The mix-up occurred when the family checked in on a desk which was dealing with 2 flights. The staff gave them the wrong boarding pass, apparently, but the family failed to notice that it said it was a flight for Turkey and not Lanzarote. You know, because they never check these things like normal people would.

They managed to get through the airport, into the departure gate for their flight and onto it without realising their mistake, before promptly falling asleep on the plane as it made its way to Turkey. They only realised where they were when the stewardess on board said ‘Welcome to Turkey’. They ended up having to pay for visas in Bodrum, before flying back to Wales and then being given a free holiday to Ibiza (yeah, real suitable for a family with a young child) for the ‘distress’ caused.

Now, rant time. What kind of idiot goes to an airport and doesn’t check anything they’ve been given or read any notices or signs before getting on the flight? More to the point, surely either on the boarding pass or at the gate there will have been the word ‘TURKEY’ somewhere. What makes this even better is that they went on to say ‘We thought Bodrum was the airport in Lanzarote’. Now, this may just be me, but I bloody know what airport I’m supposed to be flying into. You know, so I have a bloody clue.

At one point, they even got picky as to how to fix it. No, they aren’t willing to holiday in Turkey. No, they WILL NOT fly from Luton for their replacement holiday. You would have thought that in this situation, you’d make the best of it, but of course not, we Brits love to kick up a fuss!

This has to be the biggest case of moronitis I have seen. The fact that the family is blaming the airline for everything while freely admitting they failed to check anything, read anything or even know the basic information about their flight gets me too. Still, the fact they’re reeling off the excuses shows them to be the inept arses they truly are!
