People always forget something when they go on holiday – sun tan lotion, sunglasses, traveller’s cheques, even major things like passports and tickets sometimes – but they never usually forget someone they’re going on holiday with. Especially if its your kid.

Well, a family in Israel did just that when they boarded their plane with 4 of their 5 kids, leaving their 3 year old daughter in a duty free shop, presumably too busy stocking up on cheap perfume and cigarettes to notice.

They only did notice, in fact, when the pilot notified them on the plane after stewards must have notified him they were 1 down on the passenger manifest. The girl was then flown out on the next flight to Paris, which is where I hope the parents were but I wouldn’t put it past  them to cock that up too. They will be questioned by police when they get back, something along the lines of “just what kind of morons are you?” I hope…

EDIT: It now seems that the parents were in two different parts of the plane, each thinking the other had the missing child. They were also emigrating to France, so an even worse situation than previously thought!
